| Child Support $150 Pass-Through Program
The District of Columbia has reinstated the pass-through of child support paid to families receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits. The pass-through was previously required under federal law, prior to the passing of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA). The District has decided to reinstate the legislation and participate in the pass-through program to benefit the children of DC.
The $150 pass-through provides the following benefits:
- Grants access to additional monies to children receiving TANF benefits
- Encourages non-custodial parents to pay their monthly child support obligation on a consistent basis
- Encourages non-custodial parents to have an on-going relationship with their children
- Aids the District's neediest children living below the poverty line
- Works in the best interest of the children and families of the District of Columbia
